Why I Started DSERV Fitness
DSERV Fitness didn't begin as a business idea. It began as frustration.
For years, my fitness journey was inconsistent. I would train hard for periods of time, stop training, gain weight again, drink too much, and then repeat the cycle. By January 2026, I decided enough was enough. I wanted a reset. A fresh start.
At the time, I weighed 16 stone 4 pounds. I committed myself to improving my health, reducing alcohol, and following a structured 14-week training plan. By the end of it, I had dropped to 13 stone 7 pounds.
Throughout that journey, I found myself buying products from some of the biggest fitness brands in the industry. Brands that looked incredible online and across social media — but when I actually trained in the products, I kept asking myself the same question:
"Does this really feel worth the price?"
That question eventually became the foundation of DSERV Fitness.
The Meaning Behind DSERV
The name DSERV comes from a very simple mindset.
Whenever I looked at a product, sampled a garment, or tested a design, I kept asking myself: "Would I deserve this as a customer?"
If the answer was no, it wasn't good enough.
For me, the word "deserve" means more than simply receiving a product. It means deserving quality, deserving comfort, deserving confidence, and deserving clothing that genuinely supports your fitness journey.
Whether you are stepping into a gym for the first time or training at a high level after years of experience, everyone deserves to feel comfortable in what they wear.
The Problem I Saw in the Industry
As I trained more — especially through running and marathon preparation — I started noticing the same problems again and again.
Many products looked great visually, but lacked real functionality.
Running shorts are one of the biggest examples for me personally. I've completed the London Marathon three times, and one thing runners quickly realise is that small details matter over long distances.
That experience made me realise that many brands are simplifying products for aesthetics while forgetting the needs of the athlete. For runners, hybrid athletes, and everyday gym-goers, functionality matters:
- Secure phone storage
- Sweat-wicking materials
- Comfortable movement
- Storage for gels and valuables
- Proper fits that don't restrict movement
Building a Brand Around Real People
Fitness means something different to everyone.
Some people are training for Hyrox events or marathons. Others are building confidence after years away from exercise. Some people love fitted compression wear. Others feel more comfortable in oversized heavyweight clothing.
None of those people are more important than the others.
That's why I want DSERV to become a brand that supports the entire fitness community — from beginners completing Couch to 5K programmes to experienced athletes chasing personal bests.
At the end of the day, the goal itself doesn't matter. What matters is that people feel supported while chasing it.
Why Oversized Fits Matter
One area I became passionate about during my own transformation was oversized gym clothing.
For me personally, heavyweight oversized t-shirts provided comfort during periods where I wasn't fully confident in my body. They gave me a relaxed fit that worked both inside and outside of the gym while still feeling premium.
But oversized clothing only works when it's designed properly.
There's a huge difference between a genuinely oversized premium fit and simply sizing up a thin t-shirt. That's why fabric quality, garment weight, shoulder fit, and overall shape matter so much to me. You can explore our full range of oversized gym wear to see how we approach this.
Starting DSERV Without Industry Experience
One of the hardest parts about starting DSERV Fitness was that I came into the industry with very little fashion or fitness business experience.
My background is actually in IT, telecommunications, sales, and finance.
What I did understand, however, was value.
I didn't want to create a business that simply shifted products. I wanted to build something where every product felt considered, tested, and genuinely worth the money customers spend.
That's why products are tested personally before release. Friends, family, athletes, and everyday users all provide feedback before products go live.
The Importance of Detail
To me, premium products are not just about the garment itself. They are about the full experience.
That includes packaging, presentation, quality control, and attention to detail.
We are currently developing branded packaging and premium presentation materials because we want customers to feel that care and effort from the moment their order arrives.
When someone opens a DSERV package, I want them to immediately feel that what they purchased was worth it.
The Future of DSERV Fitness
Looking ahead, my vision for DSERV Fitness is simple.
I want to build a global fitness brand that never loses touch with its community.
I want to see DSERV at marathons, Hyrox events, fitness expos, and community training sessions. I want customers to share stories, achievements, and experiences while wearing products that genuinely support their goals.
Most importantly, I want DSERV to continue standing for the same values it was built on from the beginning:
- Quality
- Comfort
- Practicality
- Inclusivity
- Confidence
- Community
Final Thoughts
DSERV Fitness was never created to simply follow trends.
It was created from real frustrations, real training experiences, and a belief that gym clothing should do more than just look good online.
Every product we create is built around one simple question:
"Is this something our customers truly deserve?"
As the brand grows, that mindset will never change.
